About us

Najd Records started from a long, personal relationship with music.

I grew up in Saudi Arabia in the 2000s. Music wasn’t always encouraged, but it found its way in anyway. Without smartphones, my friends and I shared songs over Bluetooth. Tracks moved between us casually and often. That’s how music lived then.

I remember coming across someone else’s iPod once, full of music I didn’t recognize. There was no album art or background, just song titles. Inside it were artists like Staind, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Marley. Discovering them that way stuck with me.

Later, while studying in Canada, I spent a lot of time in record stores. They felt different from buying music online. People talked. Records were handled, recommended, passed around. You learned as much from the space as you did from the music.

When I returned to Saudi Arabia in 2024, Najd Records grew out of a desire to bring some of that experience back. The name reflects where I’m from and where this project lives. It’s based in Riyadh and shaped by the people who pass through it.

Najd Records is about listening, discovery, and sharing music in physical ways — whether that’s digging through records, talking about what’s playing, or spending time in the same room.

It’s ongoing, and it’s built slowly.
