Welcome to Najd Records! I’m Aziz, the "founder", and I’m excited to start this project with you to what began as a lifelong love affair with music. 
Growing up in Saudi Arabia in the 2000s, music wasn’t exactly encouraged, but that didn’t stop me and my friends. Back then, we didn’t have smartphones, so we’d share songs over Bluetooth—it was our little way of staying connected to something bigger. Blur's Song 2, Akon's Right Now (Na Na Na) and DJ Felli Fel's Get Buck in Here, those tracks were on heavy rotation.
I still remember the thrill of stumbling across someone else’s iPod, packed with music I’d never heard of. One time, I found Staind, Led Zeppelin, and Bob Marley all in one go. There was no album art or context, just the music. It felt like opening a time capsule from another world. Looking back, those moments really shaped how I see music—not just as sound, but as a way to discover, to connect, and to feel something real.
Najd Records is the result of a journey through songs that make us feel, remember, and connect. My passion for records and the thrill of discovering new music took root early on, but it truly flourished during my time studying abroad in Canada. There, I stumbled into my first record store that felt like a hidden world, where music wasn’t just sound; it was an invitation into different lives, stories, and eras. Every vinyl record held a unique story to someone, and every visit felt like uncovering a new chapter in music.
When I returned to Saudi Arabia, in September of 2024, I knew I wanted to bring that feeling home—to create a place where records aren’t just relics of the past but are embraced as the heartbeat of music culture. Najd Records is rooted in Riyadh, with a name that reflects my origins and grounding in Saudi Arabia’s music scene. Like an old friend with endless stories, Najd Records has come to connect, inspire discovery, and share the music that shapes who we are.
In the future, I hope Najd Records becomes a physical destination—a place where you can grab a coffee, browse records, and find that perfect album to take home. I envision a space where local artists can showcase their work, where touring musicians bring their sound to us, and where, just like my first time in a record store, you feel the excitement of stepping into a world of endless musical stories.
